What Information Dinner Bell Keeps

Dinner Bell suggests dinners your whole family will eat. To do that it keeps some information about your family. This page says what we keep, where, who sees it, and how to have it deleted.

What information we keep

What we do not keep

We do not keep your location, your contacts, your photos, or anything from other apps. There is no advertising and no analytics service in Dinner Bell, and nothing is used to follow you across other apps or websites.

Where it is kept

We keep your information on one server we rent from Fly.io, in San Jose, California. The connection between your phone and the server is encrypted.

Who sees it

Doug Fraser, who makes Dinner Bell, can read your information to fix problems and make the suggestions better. Nobody else sees it. We do not sell it or share it. The one exception is that if you ask to reset your password, your email address is passed to Resend, the service that sends that email.

We also learn from what families eat, with names and anything that identifies you removed, so the app can suggest what "families like yours" tend to enjoy.

Deleting it

In the app, open Profile and tap Delete my account under Account. You are signed out straight away and nobody can sign in to the account, but we keep it and everything about your family for 30 days, in case it was a mistake: email us in that time and we will get it back. After 30 days it is all deleted, and that cannot be undone.

Or email support@dinner-bell.app from the address you signed up with, and we will delete your account and everything about your family, and tell you when it is done.

What Dinner Bell never says

Dinner Bell never tells you a food is safe. It says what it checked against your family's allergies, medical conditions, and diets, and names what it could not check. Always read the label on any food you consume.

This app is intended for adults only. Parents should not create a login for their children.
